Chung Yi Hsu 許重義

Dr. Hsu was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1944. He received his M.D. from National Taiwan University in 1970 and Ph.D. from University of Virginia in 1975. He is currently Professor of Neurology and Head of Stoke Service at the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO.

 

Special Achievement

Dr. Hsu has contributed greatly in the following areas: the discovery of the mechanism of drug reactions in the treatment of diabetes, the development of a most reliable stroke model, the application of an advanced pharmacological tool to regulate gene expression after stroke in animals, and the demonstration of DNA damage and repair after cerebral ischemia. He has published over 100 papers in influential technical journals and has contributed to over 20 books and has received many prestigious awards due to his outstanding research.
