Ming-Min Peng 彭明敏

 

Dr. Peng was born in Taichung Taiwan in 1923. He graduated form National Taiwan University with a degree in Politics; from MacGill University, Canada with a Masters Degree in Law, and from Paris University with a Ph.D. in Law. He was a professor of Politics at National Taiwan University, a research fellow at Michigan University, president of FAPA, and chairman of Asia Pacific Democratic Association.

Special Achievement

Dr. Peng is an authority in international space law. During the period of martial law in Taiwan, he launched the "Declaration of Taiwanese Self-Rescue" with his students, Hsieh Tong-Ming and Wei Ting-Chao, to advocate political reconstruction of Taiwan.  Thus he was arrested and put into prison. After he was released due to world opinion, he fled to Sweden, and then to the US. He has devoted himself to the political reconstruction movement in the past thirty years, and is the most respected pioneer of the Taiwan democratic movement.
