CONTRIBUTION AWARD LAUREATE
Feng-Shan Wu 吳豐山

Mr. Wu was
born in Tainan Taiwan in 1945. He received a BS degree in Politics and a
Masters degree in Journalism from National Politics University. He was elected
as assemblyman of Taiwan twice. He became chairman, president, and reporter of
The Independence Evening Post and The Independence Morning.
Special Achievement
He has devoted his life to journalism, strongly believing
in freedom of speech. He urged the government to make great reform in the
control of news. Both The Independence Evening Post and The Independence
Morning were almost the only daily newspapers that dared to challenge the
press authority during the martial law era. His dedication to journalism and
his belief of freedom of speech accelerated the process of the democratic
movement in Taiwan.
