LAUREATEJong-Chin Su 蘇仲卿

Dr. Su was
born in Taipei, in 1928. He graduated from National Taiwan University with a
B.S. degree in Farming and a M.S. degree in Farm Chemistry, and later received
his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. He was professor of Farm Chemistry at National
Taiwan University and later became Director of National Graduate School
Zoology Department.
Special Achievement
Through a series of biochemical research, he discovered a
new nucleotide GDP-L-galactose from red marine algae and developed biochemical
analysis of the plant cell walls. He pioneered several group research projects
to further the scientific understanding of plants in Taiwan and foster
biochemical studies and teaching activities in Taiwan.
