Chen S. Tsai 蔡振水

Dr. Tsai
was born in Tongshiao, in 1935. He graduated from National Taiwan University,
later he received his M.S. in Electric Engineering from Utah State University,
and Ph.D. from Stanford University. He was a research fellow at Lockhead Palo
Alto Research Center, a professor at Carnegie-Mellon University, and later
became a distinguished professor and Above Scale Professor of Electrical
Engineering at University of California, Irvine.
Special Achievement
Dr. Tsai is an expert in "Integrated Optics" and "Acoustic
Microscopy". He has invented and patented many integrated electro-optics
devices such as: the waveguide, switch photodetector and amplifier. He became
a fellow of IEEE, OSA, and SPIE and won the IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Award.
His academic and research accomplishments have become internationally known,
and he has been invited to lecture in many countries. His book "Guided-wave
Acousto-Optics" has been widely recognized. Dr. Tsai has inspired many young
researchers to follow his footsteps into scientific research.
