Chen-Yuan Lee 李鎮源

 

Dr. Lee was born in Tainan, in 1915. He received his medical education and obtained a M.D. degree from Taipei Imperial University during the Japanese occupation. He was a professor at National Taiwan University, became director of Institute of Pharmacology, and later became Dean of the College of Medicine. In 1969, he was elected as a member of Academia Sinica.

Special Achievement

He has been researching in the field of pharmacology for over forty years and is recognized as a world authority in the research of venom in poisonous snakes. He edited a pharmacology book entitled "Venom of Poison Snakes" in 1979, which was widely used in the world as a bible for studying venom of various snakes. He established the Institute of Pharmacology at National Taiwan University and continuously encourages and assistes younger pharmacology researchers in their works.
