Yie-Wen Chien 簡逸文

Dr. Chien was born in Keelong in 1938. He graduated from Kaohsiung Medical School with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy, and he later received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from Ohio State University. He worked for G.D. Searle as a research fellow and group leader. In academia, he was a professor and chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Clinical Sciences at Rutgers, State University of New Jersey.  Associated with the university, he became the founder and Director of Controlled Drug-Delivery Research Center in 1982. He was elected as an Academy Fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Science, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and the American Institute of Chemists.

Special Achievement

Dr. Chien contributed greatly to the area of pharmacy research, specializing in morphine anti-poison and interference cancer treatment. He was actively involved in the conceptualization, initialization, and development of several long-acting, rate-controlled drug delivery systems for human and animal health care applications. He published numerous papers and has been invited to the International Pharmacy Annual Conference numerous times to discuss his research. Besides serving as editor in several periodicals, he has authored several books in advanced pharmacy.
