Su Lan Wang 王施琅
 

Mr. Wang was born in Taipei in 1908. He graduated from Taipei Lausong Elementary School. During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, he was a committee member of the Taipei Cultural Literature committee in 1948. In 1961, he became the chief editor of "Taiwan Culture and Geography", and later became the editing director of Taiwan Cultural Literature committee. He lectured on Taiwan history at National Taiwan University.

Special Achievement

Mr. Wang was a young revolutionary during the Japanese occupation and later became a historian. He is also a novelist and a powerful writer. During the Japanese occupation, he was a member of the Taiwan Young Men Black Alliance, actively involved in social movement in Taiwan and was jailed several times. During the same time, he wrote many literature pieces and became a member of the Taiwan Literature Association. After Taiwan was returned to the Nationalist Chinese, he concentrated his studies on the history of Taiwan and wrote many articles on this topic. He supervised the publication of "Taipei History and Geography". During the 1970s, he published "Taiwanese Society", "Taiwan History", and "Taiwan - Under Japanese Colonial Rules". He was honored with the National Literature Special Award in 1982. He was the chief editor of a youth magazine "Shyue Yu". He encouraged children to write literature and helped Taiwanese children develop their literature and art skills. Mr. Wang passed away in 1984.
