Wu Fu Chen 陳五福

Mr. Chen was born in Yi Lan Hsieh in 1918. He graduated from Fu Dao Medical School, Japan with a medical degree. He was Director of Ophthalmology in Ma Kai Medical Center and Director of "Association of Taiwan Friends of Schweitzer". Currently he is the Director of "Career Skill Training Center for the Blind".

Special Achievement

Dr. Chen is an outstanding doctor who treats his patients with great care and kindness. He established an Ophthalmology Clinic in the City of Yilan to help blind people rebuild their confidence and overcome their handicaps so they can better contribute to society. Supported financially mostly by his own, he built rehabilitation centers servicing and benefiting to the handicapped and the blind; he has made a great contribution to society. Dr. Chen has been advocating the spirit of Dr. Schweitzer, who is an internationally well-known humanitarian, who practiced as a doctor in South Africa for many years. Dr. Chen practices what he believes. His achievements and example have won him the title of " Taiwan Schweitzer".
